What I can see

The marble bust of Athens or Athena is 83 cm high, and the female figure bears the Acropolis on her head. The cold look and hairdo refer directly to classicism. The bust is placed on a lekythos with relief decorations (tendrils, horizontal bands, lion heads) and has rough points, to make a connection to ruins.

What I can't see

The female figure is actually Athens instead of Athena, as it was common praxis for cities to be personified in an allegorical way in the Alexandrian era. The original work of Ioannis Kossos (1822-1875) is located at the Municipal Gallery. In the area of the Cultural Centre, we see a copy of the work. The exact time of placement is unknown.
