What I can see

A creative space of business, culture, and entertainment that goes against the current of its location, the most notorious neighbourhood of the city centre. This is perhaps a main reason why Romantso is a favourite place for Athenians and visitors alike. The building was restored by “someOFnine” and “Flux Office Architecture”, in a manner that approaches its original architectural form. Of particular importance are the marble staircase, the conversion of the back yard into a garden, and the natural light that flows into the building through the air shafts.

What I can't see

It was originally the office and printing house of Romantso magazine, which was very popular for 56 years, until it ceased publication in 1990. At the same time, the Radiotileorasi magazine and two newspapers of opposite ideological approaches (Eleftheros Typos and Rizospastis) were also housed here. Through the 1990s, the area was commonly known for its many newspaper printing houses (Kathimerini, Vradyni etc). Today, the Romantso hosts a variety of cultural events, parties and workshops, usually with an alternative or activist viewpoint. There is also space for coffee or drinks, while events can take place on 4 stages at the same time.
