What I can see

The garden has a strict French geometric style, which is tempered by perennial plane, cypress, lime and palm trees. It hosts 140 different species of plants and according to the Greek Ornithological Society many of these plants are rare. Sparrows, blackbirds and magpies are part of the fauna of the garden. It also serves as an outdoor sculpture gallery, hosting sculptures like “Gaida” by Giannis Pappas, “TEL-NEANT” by Giorgos Zongolopoulos, “family” by Natalia Mela and other works of Papagiannis and Varotsos.

What I can't see

This area was the royal kitchen gardens, which were part of the former Royal (now National) garden. The garden design was assumed by the firm of Ernst Ziller, but the choice of the plants was made by a Greek specialist, in order to avoid the mistake of garden architect Smarat in the royal garden, where he placed many foreign ornamental plants which could not flourish due to the country’s climate. The garden entrance is on the side of Vassileos Georgiou Street.
