What I can see

Strange Brew, in addition to being a small brewery (craft beer), is a taproom and bottle shop in Koukaki area. It is a very welcoming space, where one can enjoy a drink, listen to 70s rock, underground, blues and funky music, socialize, often admire works of emerging talented artists, exchange ideas and opinions and ultimately, a social “fermentation” takes place. Strange Brew’s first beer was Jasmine IPA, which flows together with other beers of the brewery and beers of other Greek and foreign microbrewers, through the taproom’s 12 taps. Moreover, there are several options in cans and bottles for take away.

What I can't see

The title is inspired by the song “Strange Brew” by the British band Cream, as the group of friends who created the brewery have a particular preference for 60s psychedelic rock. Their vision is to become a game changer in the established standards of multinational brewing companies, by offering more options and proposing an alternative approach through spontaneous and mixed fermentation techniques, experimentation in the reproduction of yeast strains and an aging program in oak barrels. Microbrewery aspires to create a strong bond with people, the neighbourhood and the community. In addition to Jasmine IPA, which is available in famous bars and restaurants around the country, the permanent releases include Mandy Black, Dr. Haze, Hay Joe and Cloe Unity Lager, a product of collaboration with Alea Brewing Co. Special projects are the “Uncle Jam’s Brewhouse Tales” (experimental combinations of new and old recipes) and “The Cellar Jams” (aging in wine, whiskey and tsipouro barrels). Strange Brew has received the Best Beer in Greece award (2019) from ratebeer.com and the best label award (2019). Furthermore, it cooperates with other microbreweries in Greece (Patras, Crete), Poland, Bulgaria and this network is growing.
