What I can see

Black Duck Garden – Athens City Museum Bistrot is located in a lush space of unfussy luxury that takes us back about 200 years. It operates from 10:00 am until late at night and proves to be ideal for any time of the day. It is a friendly environment with soft music, where one can enjoy their coffee, brunch, drink, meal, and interesting cocktails. The menu is constantly renewed, the big wine list harmonizes perfectly with the rich Mediterranean flavours influenced by European cuisine, and the collaboration between the Black Duck and small producers from all over the country offers customers the opportunity to experience tastes from all over Greece.

What I can't see

It is hard to imagine that 180 years ago, this was not the city centre, but an unexploited plot. The Vouros and Afthonidis residences, which were built later, formed the complex in which the first royal couple of modern Greece, Otto and Amalia, temporarily settled. The atrium of today’s Museum of the City of Athens, where the Black Duck Garden – Athens City Museum Bistrot is hosted, was part of the garden curated by Amalia. The tall palm tree we see on the south side of the atrium was planted at that time and is still alive.
