What I can see
It is a newer building in the place of the older Evangelical Church of the 1870. It is of modern architecture, designed by Konstantinos Makris, and is covered with white Pentelic marble, as a sign of respect for the ancient monuments that surround it. The church has simple and clean lines, both on its exterior and interior. It also has strong Bauhaus elements and the decoration is very limited. The church instrument on the first floor is one of the few in Greece.
What I can't see
The Evangelical Church in Greece was founded by Michael Kalapothakis and the community of evangelists grew significantly after the arrival of Greek refugees from Asia Minor. Today, there are two other churches of this dogma in Athens, one in Koukaki and another near Omonia. In addition to religious purposes, the church also serves cultural purposes. The earlier church had been vandalized many times during the 19th century, often with extreme violence and sometimes with the tolerance of the local authorities. Furthermore, on Good Friday, the Orthodox faithful would stop the procession of the Epitaph at this point of Amalias Avenue to throw stones at the church of the evangelists.
