What I can see

It is not one of Athens’ most famous parks, yet it is very important to residents. Many people come here to picnic, take their children to play, walk their pets, or simply sit and enjoy the tranquility. Within this area of approximately 40 acres, there are not only trees and flowers, but also fountains, a playground, two basketball courts, a dog park, a small and a larger Christian church, and a shrubbery maze for children.

What I can't see

The name of the Promponas area derives from Dimitrios Promponas (1874–1949), a physician, pharmacist, industrialist and politician, who also practiced the pseudoscience of dowsing. This is where he cultivated the herbs for his pharmacy, which was located in the city centre. He donated the land to the Municipality of Athens to serve as a place for relaxation and recreation.
