The Hellenic Motor Museum is developed in “Capitol” spaces and covers a total area of 5,000 sq. m. The history of the wheel, from 300 BC to 1980, is exhibited on the building’s ramp. The museum’s collection includes over 300 vehicles, which are exhibited in rotation (approximately every 120) and its purpose is the acquisition of knowledge regarding the 4-wheels evolution in a time span of a century. We can admire old car models that no longer exist, from various companies, such as Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porche, Lotus and many more. Among the noticeable exhibits are the Chrysler Imperial (1979) of Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant, the Rolls Royce Wraith (1938) of Sir Laurence Olivier, the Aston Martin Lagonda (1984) of the Duke of Westminster, the Lancia Aurelia (1953) of F1 driver Lorenzo Bandini, the Cadillac Seville (1979) with the Gucci decoration and the Abarth Record Monza of Italian champion Massimo Letto di Priolo. Moreover, the museum also has an F1 simulator for those who want to live such an experience.
There is a 200-seat conference centre on the 4th floor, with 3D and 7.1 audiovisual systems, where films and documentaries are screened. The museum’s goal is to record and highlight the symbol of the Industrial Revolution, as well as to promote road safety through educational activities. It is a member of the F.I.A. Heritage Museums, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Athens Network of Museums and Cultural Institutions.
