The former Excelsior Hotel is an impressive building with three facades. It is an example of the so-called eclectic historicism, while maintaining the tradition of the late classicism of Athens. It was probably designed by Ernst Ziller and today, only its facades survive.
Here, once stood the Kaftanzoglou house, which Kaftanzoglou had designed himself. Afterwards, the Victoria Hotel was built, which was later renamed to Excelsior. It was a luxurious hotel, but after World War II it declined and was gradually abandoned. Today, it belongs to the National Bank. At the end of the 19th century and until the beginning of the 20th, the historic Bernitsa confectionery and dairy was housed on the ground floor.

1979 Its facades were listed. Their restoration began and the interior was radically changed.
