What I can see

This building, designed by Ioannis Antoniadis, was erected where the older mansion, designed by Ioannis Axellos, was located. Its style is strict and is considered an example of a modern, simple classicism. According to what Antoniadis said, the Archaeological Society forced him to add archaic elements, such as pilasters with capitals and projecting ends. The two columns of the entrance adorned the older building. Lectures are held on the ground floor, while the offices and library are on the upper floors.

What I can't see

The purpose of the “Archaeological Society at Athens” is to assist the state in the research, study and preservation of antiquities. Its first session symbolically took place on the Acropolis. It undertook the excavations on the Acropolis hill, the restoration of its monuments and its work throughout Greece is valuable, despite the financial adversities it has often faced.
