Although it is a modernist work of the interwar period, the Agios Savvas Hospital is characterized as a work of neo-academic eclecticism, whose exponent was the architect Vassilios Tsagris. The influences from the Viennese school of Otto Wagner and Art Nouveau are evident. The building is characterized by symmetry, rhythmicity in its openings, clear vertical and horizontal axes, it has a monumental entrance, but also a complete lack of decorative elements.
It was the first anti-cancer hospital in the country and was known as the Hellenic Anti-Cancer Institute.
