What I can see

This five-storey apartment building was designed by Kostas Kitsikis, an exponent of eclectic neo-academicism, that is, a combination of older and newer architectural trends. Erkers (protruding volumes, in relation to the surface of the facade) have been applied to this building and the Heraclides guards at the entrance are quite impressive. The top floor is probably a later addition, aesthetically different and architecturally simpler than the rest of the building. The adjacent Prezanis apartment building (57 Vasilissis Sofias Av.), designed by Andreas Kriezis, blends harmoniously, despite the notable architectural differences.

What I can't see

In the past, the projection of the erker was bigger. On the initiative of Kitsikis, its reduction from 1.40m to 0.40m was legislated. In contemporary legislation, the buildings of the interwar period, and especially the modernist ones, are not among the buildings adequately protected by the state. The modern movement has not yet established its position as a movement that requires equal protection with those of neoclassicism and eclecticism. Institutional deficits, insufficient coordination of entities and joint responsibilities of entities put the buildings of the period 1920-1940 in multiple dangers.
