Koutzalexis house is a neoclassical building in Plaka.

When the Koutzalexis brothers bought the building, which was built during the Ottoman period, it only had a ground floor. The two floors were added gradually and it acquired a simple neoclassical style. In the interior, impressive ceiling decoration is still preserved.
Over the past two centuries, it has been used in many ways. During the 1960s and 1970s, the “Catacombs” boite was hosted in the basement and the “Tavania” (Ceilings) dance hall on the floor, a name probably inspired by the ceiling decoration.
