What I can see

Personal items of basketball personalities, souvenirs, medals, diplomas, uniforms and equipment of the old open court of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) of Thessaloniki, are just some of the exhibits in the Basketball Museum’s collection. Moreover, the new wing is dedicated to the Greek national basketball team, to the history of Greek basketball and more specifically, the collection includes player jerseys, medals, balls of historical matches, tickets, collectibles of Greek and international basketball events, as well as items of players, coaches and referees.

What I can't see

The sport was introduced to Greece by the YMCA of Thessaloniki in 1919. The museum’s goal is to highlight the history of the sport in Greece and the role of the YMCA in its promotion. The Greek basketball team is considered one of the best in the world, with 5 participations in the Olympic Games, 9 participations in the World Cup (silver medal in 2006) and 28 participations in Eurobasket, with 2 gold (1987, 2005), 1 silver (1989) and 2 bronze medals (1949, 2009).
