What I can see

It is a double residence and its official name is ‘‘Filopappou Hill’’. The location inspired the architect Eleni Zervoudakis (Z-level architecture) who applied the idea of ​​scaling. As in neoclassical buildings, it has a base-main body- crowning arrangement. Tripartite arrangement is also found around the building, i.e., the surrounding area – hill / road – city. The base is elevated, the white coloured main body is in a parallel relation with the surrounding buildings and the crowning is a light metal and glass structure that offers a panoramic view of the Acropolis and the city. Metal blinds and the changing shell, which sometimes is solid and sometimes permeable, create a game of light, which is also utilised in the best possible way. The facades change and the boundaries between indoor and outdoor space change as well. This game of volumes and the building’s special lines are reminiscent of Piet Mondrian’s paintings.

What I can't see

Previously, there was a one-storey building, which was demolished. During the new building’s construction work, antiquities were discovered. Individual graves were among them. Archaeologists estimate that these were emergency graves, opened in times of famine. These findings were secured by the relevant ephorate of antiquities and later the project proceeded steadily.
