It is considered a building of neo-academic eclecticism with influences from Art Nouveau and the Otto Wagner school of Vienna.
It was designed by Vassilios Tsagris and housed the Athinon Theatre from the beginning, which also included a cabaret stage. In addition, it housed the Vretania Theatre, which initially operated as a cinema.
