What I can see

The main building of the hospital is an adaptation of a smaller existing building and was designed by Kyprianos Biris. It has a Z-shaped floor plan, simple volumes, a facade with orthogonal layout and each room has a small balcony and openings framed by skylights. Although it is a modernist building, classicist influences are evident, such as the symmetry and rhythmicity of the openings. Colours were added during the last renovation, significantly changing the initially simple physiognomy of the building. The top floor is different both chromatically and morphologically. The newer building is not architecturally unrelated to the old one. The old and newer are connected with a covered curved corridor on the first floor and an arcade and a central open space have been created under the corridor.

What I can't see

This is the Army Joint Stock Hospital (NIMTS). It suffered serious damage during World War II and was ceded by the Nazis and the occupation government to the disabled and other patients who had been expelled from the Nazi-mandated hospitals. After the war and during the following decades, the doctors’ persistence led the small hospital to constant development and became a fully equipped institution with a highly trained staff.
