What I can see
An impressive building made of exposed concrete is located on Pireos Street. Its total area is 10,000 sq.m. and houses a clothing-footwear company and other offices. It consists of two separate buildings. The first one is a 1,500 sq.m one-storey commercial store with a garden on its roof, and the second is a five-storey L-shaped office building, which surrounds the single-storey building. The garden was not created by elevating the building, but by retreating the roof downwards, in order to create the necessary gap for the garden. Thus, the employees of the five-storey building enjoy the garden, instead of being in direct contact with Pireos Street. Finally, ramps connect the ground floor of the offices with the garden.
What I can't see
The design had two goals. The first was the maximum application of greenery in relation to the built space. The second was for the buildings to be energy and environmentally friendly. The equipment is state of the art. Characteristic examples are the rainwater tanks in the basements, which water the garden all year round, and the air-soil exchangers, which bring fresh air both inside the building and on the patio.
