What I can see

This modern, geometric and abstract sculpture, a work by Kostas Domboulas, is made of metal and is placed in a limited space laid with pebbles. The 4 cubes compose a larger one and its inclination creates interesting perspectives. The base is framed by the names of the executed students on marble. It is a dynamic and monumental sculpture, equal to the morals of the students who opposed the Nazis. Despite its symbolism, the monument is often vandalized.

What I can't see

During the Nazi occupation, many students, as well as professors, were tortured and executed by the occupying forces and their collaborators. The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki frequently holds memorial events in their honour, emphasizing the university’s long-standing stance against Nazism, the dictatorship, and the continuous support of many social and political struggles.
