This brass sculpture, created by Giorgos Zongolopoulos, is abstract, with geometric characteristics. The strict volumes and sharp edges of the structures create gradations of light that symbolize the revolutionary spirit of the student, to whom the sculpture is dedicated.
After his studies, the Cypriot student of the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Kyriakos Matsis, joined the liberation struggle of Cyprus (EOKA) from the British. After a betrayal, the British soldiers asked him to surrender. He refused and was eventually killed. His body was never handed over to his family, but was buried directly in the compound of the Nicosia central prison.
