What I can see
A 1920s building houses the Greek Costume History Museum, which includes around 25,000 authentic items and local costumes. In addition to traditional costumes, the museum has replicas of Minoan, Ancient Greek and Byzantine costumes. The creation of this collection was an initiative of women, who were governed by the spirit of the Romantic Movement and sought the so-called “return to the roots”. The collection of porcelain dolls in traditional costumes was a gift from Queen Olga (1914).
What I can't see
The founder of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women, Kalliroi Parren, started to create the costume collection on behalf of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women and it was gradually enriched by donations. The museum is famous for its periodical exhibitions, which are usually also thematic exhibitions. Its aim is to highlight the Greek tradition and especially the rich history of Greek clothing. At the same time, educational programs and seminars take place.
