What I can see

The demolition of a neoclassical building paved the way for the construction of the seven-storey building of the first decades of the 20th century. Despite the fact that Athens was gradually entering the era of modernism, the building has many neoclassical elements, such as pediments and cobles, but also some eclectic ones, such as those of the mezzanine and the railings of the balconies.

What I can't see

The height of the building caused outrage at the time and this led to a decree that limited the height of buildings. It is one of the first buildings in the city that was made of reinforced concrete. Previously, the neoclassical house of Stefanos Xenos was in this location. By the end of the 1840s, it had become one of the first hotels in Athens (Foreigners’ Hotel), which had an excellent reputation in Europe. On the ground floor was the “Cafe of Antoniadis”.
