What I can see
Biennale of Athens is part of a large network of artistic events of international scope, and contemporary art being as its main theme. Hundreds of artists from around the world are involved, and exhibitions have been developed in several parts of the city. The old stock market, the Olympic facilities of Paleo Faliro, Technopolis and Diplareios School are the most characteristic examples. In recent years, the economic and climate crisis has been the source of inspiration for many artists.
What I can't see
The aim is for Athens to become a global destination for the arts, and for art in Athens to become a source of renewal, and inspire dialogue, artistic production, the emergence of new talents, and better networking with the global art scene. Indeed, along with the exhibitions, the Biennale is also a “platform” for discussions, lectures and presentations. It takes place every two years, in cooperation with the municipality of Athens. The 2015 Biennale lasted for two years.
