Filothei Gully
Most of the streams of Athens are covered. The stream (Gully) of Filothei is one of the few that remained uncovered.

What I can see
In Filothei district, from Kifissias Avenue to the Gym of Filothei, there is an uncovered part of a stream, about 1.1 km long. Its depth is between three and five metres and in some places interventions have been made to fix the riverbed for flood and corrosion protection. It is a very pleasant route, it offers peace and one forgets the stress and the noise of the big city.
What I can't see
The stream improves the microclimate, the vegetation filters the air and there is a continuous flow of water from autumn to spring. It often has water in the summer as well. Most of it is covered, flows from Mount Penteli, connects underground with the Chalandri Stream, meets the Roman Hadrian’s Aqueduct, and continues to the Podoniftis Stream.
