Drakoulis Mansion

What I can see

The Drakoulis Mansion consists of a ground floor with a mezzanine and 4 floors and follows the neoclassical tripartite arrangement of base-main body-crowning. It is an eclectic building, as it combines neoclassical and art nouveau elements in a very successful way. Today, it is being renovated by Arch Up Studio and transformed into a multi-purpose arts and culture space, including schools of cinema, photography, dance, theatre, painting, exhibition spaces, an amphitheater, a library, as well as other spaces, such as a restaurant and a café.

What I can't see

It was probably designed by Anastasios Zachariadis and Konstantinos Kokoropoulos, on behalf of a well-known businessman of the time. It housed the offices of the Hellenic Railways, offices and shops, the most important of which was the Vardas store. The spaces of the building are developed around a central atrium, it had an elevator and the stairwell includes skylights, so that natural light flows in.
