The Aeginitio Hospital is a neoclassical building with simple decoration and the floors are clearly separated. The architect Anastasios Metaxas followed the type of parallel wings, which for the first time were developed in two and three floors. The wings behind the neoclassical building are later additions. The neoclassical building is structured in a base-main body-crowning arrangement. The crowning, however, is the tiled roof that covers only the central section. The facade has dense rectangular openings, framed by pseudocolumns and two of the doors have a pediment. Also, the facade is divided into 3 vertical axes, with the central one in projection, which is also divided into 3 vertical axes, with its central section in retreat.
These days, the building complex houses the neurological and psychiatric clinic of the University of Athens. It was built with a bequest from astronomer and professor of the University of Athens Dionysios Aeginitis and his wife Eleni. It was one of the model hospitals of the time, as it met the requirements of new treatment methods, thus following the model European hospitals.
