What I can see
This church is dedicated to Saint John the Theologist, it is a two-column cruciform inscribed church with an octagonal dome of the Athenian type and a narthex. Its masonry follows the brick-enclosed system, with the exception of a part of the south side. The frescoes are from the 13th century and are a rare example of frescoes of that time in Athens. The floor and the templon are newer.
What I can't see
It was used as the parish chapel of the church of Agios Nikolaos Ragavas. It is one of the few cases of Byzantine churches in Plaka that have preserved their original form, without subsequent additions and serious changes. According to tradition, during the siege of the Acropolis in 1687, Morosini had placed 2 cannons here.
