What I can see
The area of Porto Rafti is located in eastern Attica. Its beaches have a total length of more than 7km, with Avlaki beach being the longest (about 3.3km). Avlaki beach consists of sand, is located on the southeast side of the settlement and is organized for the most part. Especially on weekends, it is crowded, as it is a popular daytime destination for Athenians. Northeast of the settlement, there is Erotospilia, a small popular beach. Porto Rafti has many cafes, restaurants, a sports centre and a sailing club. The 3 islets and the floating boats create a beautiful Mediterranean scene.
What I can't see
The name “Rafti” probably comes from the Albanian “rrapthi”, which means small plane tree. The permanent residents of Porto Rafti are nearly 7000, but the population reaches 16,000 in the summer, because of the holidaymakers. There are several antiquities in the area. Of particular importance is the necropolis of prehistoric times near the bay of Agios Spyridon.
