What I can see
It is a classic example of interwar modernism. It is impressive to this day for the construction quality, its curves, its rugged volumes and the purist and rationalist references. Purism – originally an artistic term – is a development of Cubism, with clean lines and objectivity as its main characteristics. Rationalism accepts logical thinking as a basic principle.
What I can't see
It was designed by the civil engineer Ioannis Zolotas, possibly in collaboration with Belgian architects. Perhaps it is the most characteristic building of Kypseli that reminds us of the district’s urbanity, its cosmopolitan identity and the robustness that characterized it for decades.
