What I can see
The funerary monument of the Roman era that we see in Platanos Square in Kifissia is a square semi-basement chamber of which only the floor and the lower part of the walls remain today.
What I can't see
The chamber had an arched roof and a marble double door, with four sarcophagi inside. Three of them had embossed decoration (garlands, Erotides, Leda with the swan), while one did not. Most likely this was because the monument was originally intended to have 3 sarcophagi and later the fourth was added. The monument probably belonged to relatives of Herodes Atticus, who owned a farm and a villa in the area. During the Ottoman years there was a mosque next to the monument, but it was demolished in the late 19th century.
