At this point, there was a Roman villa, which was built on a building block of the Hippodamian city of Piraeus of the classical period, and more specifically, on 4 houses. To the west of the villa, two rows of rooms were discovered, which were probably workshops or warehouses and the rows were separated from each other by a courtyard with wells. The lack of natural water sources in the area prompted the citizens of ancient Piraeus to create an impressive underground water supply system for the city. Today, the site is a small archaeological park, but its maintenance is not always adequate and wild vegetation often dominates.
The urban plan of ancient Piraeus by Hippodamus of Miletus was radical for the time and can be compared to modern urban planning, that of functional and sustainable cities. Its main features were the regular arrangement of streets and open spaces and the separation of residences, public buildings and places of worship. This spot was the bustling centre of the ancient city and especially of the Roman era. The development of the buildings stops abruptly in the 3rd century AD because of the disasters caused by the Heruli. A building of the Rallios School had been decided to be built here, but construction works stopped due to these important findings. In addition, coins of the 5th and 4th centuries BC, clay statues of Eros and small marble statues of Aphrodite (there was a cult of Aphrodite nearby), were discovered.
