What I can see
Salaminos is a pedestrian street about 580m long; it starts from the archaeological site of Keramikos and ends at Konstantinoupoleos Street. The pedestrian route is zigzag, shaped by alternating flower beds, which prevent car traffic. It is a road with antiquities (a continuation of the archaeological site of Keramikos), old houses reminiscent of a nostalgic Athens and some restaurants and bars for those who seek a milder kind of entertainment. Monastiriou Street is the continuation of Salaminos Street, towards the Academy of Plato. It is approximately 820m long, an architectural example of the city’s urban fabric, as it was formed during the second half of the 20th century, while there are also several interesting architectural examples of interwar modernism.
What I can't see
There had been plans to pedestrianize Monastiriou Street, so that it would be a continuation of Salaminos Street and link the archaeological sites of Keramikos and Academy of Plato. This route would not only be an interesting walk, but also a beautiful cycling route, which could be continued towards Ermou and Dionysiou Areopagitou Streets, the Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. In other words, one could cross almost the entire centre of the city from west to east.
