What I can see

The “Sygrou-FIX” metro station does not have any architectural particularity, it hosts, however, works by an internationally acclaimed artist, Takis. At the tickets level, we see the “light signals”, which are reliefs in different colours and with alternating light signals. On the escalators, towards the platforms, we see a set of spotlights illuminating a photovoltaic panel, which in turn rotates a small wind turbine. Very often, these sculptures are not in operation and are not well preserved, as a result of which, the “aura” of art is lost.

What I can't see

The Light Signals is a series of works that Takis created exclusively for the metro station and was inspired by the railway station’s traffic lights. Takis (1925-2019) was a self-taught sculptor, pioneer of kinetic art, inventor and innovator of sculpture internationally. He was also one of the first Greek artists to use neon in their works.
