The Norwegian Institute at Athens brings together the academic communities of Norway and Greece, promotes research in human sciences and particularly in social sciences, history, language, culture and archeology in Greece and the Mediterranean. It organizes cultural events, has a very useful library, implements Norwegian language exams, develops networks for studying in Norway and publishes journals and researches.
It was established under the auspices of the Norwegian Council of Higher Education and is run by the universities of Bergen, Oslo, Tromsø and Trondheim. It cooperates with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Greece and ensures the accommodation of Norwegian students, researchers and other people of related specialties.
