What I can see
Already since the interwar period, the Aretsou beach was a highlight of entertainment and amusement. Likewise, today, it is a popular destination for people of all ages for having a coffee and enjoying the sea view.
What I can't see
The Aretsou beach and Kalamaria were the incoming gateway for Greek refugees from Asia Minor. They managed to create a thriving settlement from scratch and turn it into a “capital of refugees.” During the 1960s, it was the most popular beach for Thessalonians. They used to come here for swimming and for the many parties taking place.
