What I can see
Continental Hotel consists of a ground floor, mezzanine and 3 floors. The facades are richly decorated and are a representative example of an architecture that flourished in Thessaloniki during the interwar period. The arched entrance has a monumental style and its vertical zone is emphasized through the tower-like projection with the curved pediment. The facades have clear, symmetrical and strict lines, within which a wide variety of highly aesthetic elements are developed, such as the alternating – per floor – elaborate balustrades and the pillars with the capitals of Ionic order that vertically divide the facades.
What I can't see
It was an A class hotel, owned by merchants David and Jacob Yotmov Benveniste. It was designed by Jacques Moshe, but the building’s construction eventually deviated strongly from the original design and only the basic principles of the arrangement were implemented. Only the facades of the building have survived, as its interior has been radically renovated.
