The Thessaloniki Documentary Festival is held every March.
Modern and Contemporary era (1912 - )
1999 It started on the initiative of Dimitris Eipidis (March 15-21).
2017 The festival became contending.
2018 Entered the club of documentary festivals that form the same category of the American academy awards (Oscars).

What I can see
It is a world-class festival and consists of 10 sections: international feature-length documentary, international competition “newcomers”, international competition Film Forward, Film Forward out of competition, Top Docis, Special Screenings, Open Horizons, Platform, documentary animation, animation / for children. The main prize is the Golden Alexander and is a “ticket” to the respective category of the American Academy Awards (Oscars). Along with the screenings, the festival includes exhibitions, workshops, round tables, concerts, parties and other events.
What I can't see
The festival is organized by the cultural organization of the Thessaloniki Film Festival. Many personalities from many cinematic documentation trends have participated, such as Barbara Kopple, James Fox and others.
