The Varvitsiotis Mansion is an eclectic building with art deco elements. Parts of the facades are in projection and the sculpted decoration around the openings is distinctive. In addition, the balconies are curved and the railings bear interesting patterns. The main entrance is imposing, framed by 2 columns with capitals, a reference to ancient temples. An inscription with an emblem, which contains 3 figures, has survived on the lintel.
It was the residence of the lawyer, writer and art collector, Takis Varvitsiotis. It was a hangout for writers, artists and generally people who loved the arts and letters. On the ground floor, the pharmacy of the writer Nikos Gavriil Pentzikis was housed, and on the first floor, the “Poetic Home”, where friends of poetry and literature gathered every Tuesday.
