Antonopoulos Blue Apartment Building

Antonopoulos Blue Apartment Building is a prime example of modern architecture in housing sector.

The first urban apartment buildings of the interwar period were a sign of financial stability in the elites of the time, who raised the height of their homes in order to become clearly separated from the ever-expanding poor refugee districts, which included one and two-storey houses and huts. Starting mostly in the 1950s however, the “polykatikia” (=apartment building) gradually lost its status symbolism as more and more apartment buildings were constructed to house refugees and migrants.
