What I can see
Today, unfortunately, we see a church that has nothing to do with the one originally built. Extension works allow us only to imagine that the original church consisted only of the façade we currently see. Additions of objects (e.g. air conditioners) and internal modifications have completely altered a rare architectural example of modern Greek church making. Typologically, it was a single-domed church of the traditional Cycladic architecture with the volume of the bell tower having an expressionistic plasticity. The proximity to the sea is perfectly combined with the Aegean standards upon which its architecture is based.
What I can't see
The architect of the building is Periklis Sakellarios, a leading modernist of the 1950s and 1960s. The name of the church “LOK” comes from the Mountain Commando Battalion of the Army (LOK), as the church had been a military chapel.
