What I can see
The family house and workshops of Ilias Lalaouni’s company were renovated and designed as a museum by the French architect Bernard Zehrfuss, under the supervision of Vassilis Grigoriadis. The museological study was conducted by Ioanna Lalaouni. The collection consists of 4,500 pieces of jewelry and small sculptures, drawing archives and tools. At the same time, it is enriched with historical jewelry and works of art from private collections, and a library also operates.
What I can't see
Ilias Lalaounis (1920-2013) was a world-renowned goldsmith, artist, and academic and was the founder of the museum. The museum implements 2 programs (Hephaistos Summer Program and Jewelry Artist in Residence Program, jaIR) aiming at the promotion and teaching of the art and history of jewelry.
