What I can see
Located about 1.5 km north of the Rafina port and at a 29 km distance from Athens’ city centre, it is one of the most famous beaches of Attica. It has a length of about 400 metres and has sand and pebbles. Although it’s a natural beach, it is not isolated and you can get there by bus or by car. The wounds of the lethal wildfire of July 2018, will be visible for many years.
What I can't see
It’s a popular beach because it is quite sheltered from north and south winds. Its waters are clean and has earned a blue flag. The lethal wildfire of July 2018, with 99 people dead, turned the area into hell. Dozens were trapped in flames, others were disoriented due the smoke and burned alive. A large part of the population entered the water to save themselves from heat waves and smoke, but some did not make it and drowned.
