What I can see

It is a complex of neoclassical buildings, designed by Ernst Ziller and supervised by Ifikratis Kokkidis. The western building (Averofion) is of eclectic architecture and at the time, the architect was accused of designing a “suffocatingly condensed” building.

What I can't see

It was built with the bequest of Georgios Averof and on the occasion of the coming of age of the heir Constantine. Initially, the school was founded as “Lohos ton Progymnaston” by Ioannis Kapodistrias in Nafplio and a few months later it was renamed into Evelpidon School. Then, it was moved to several locations, such as Aegina, Piraeus, the current Byzantine and Christian Museum, until it ended up in the Pedion tou Areos. Today, the school has been moved to Vari and the complex houses courts, with the exception of Averofio building, which belongs to the Ministry of National Defense.
