This is an example of a late modernist building that straddles the line between contemporary plasticity and the classical values of modern movement. The base-main body- crowning arrangement, inspired by neoclassicism, is also an indirect reference to the architecture of the area, where many neoclassical and eclectic buildings are found. The ground floor and the first floor are different from the rest of the building, with the openings of the first floor being in uninterrupted continuity. The floors look as if they “fly” and the linearity of their openings is interrupted by alternating projections, a modern reference to the ercker (eclectic style enclosed balconies in projection). The building is crowned with a roof on the top floor, which is recessed. The deep blue colour is also unusual in Greek cities, as it is avoided due to the strong solar radiation, which quickly wears out bright colours.
We cannot be certain about the year of construction or the architect of the building. It is property of the Nikolaos Elias Stasinopoulos group of companies, which is active in many sectors, mainly industry.
