What I can see
In eastern Attica, in the area of Marathon, there is the longest beach of Attica, with a total length of about 5 km. Over 3km is a free beach with a pine forest and is part of the protected wetland, while the other 2km are in an area with holiday houses, where there are sunbeds and beach bars.
What I can't see
The orientation of the beach favours swimmers, because the waters are not affected by northern winds. It is a very popular beach for the Athenians, who visit it on a daily bases. In antiquity, the Persians landed on this beach for the Battle of Marathon.
