What I can see
Behind the flashy green neon sign that says ‘Thission’ in Greek, one can enjoy movies with a view of the Acropolis. After all, it is no coincidence that CNN ranks Thission among the best cinemas in the world. This summer cinema is a rectangular courtyard with a wall and there are small tables between the seats. The entrance, canteen and cashier are located on the long side of the space and were of Art Deco architecture, as was the screen. However, many later aesthetic interventions altered its original physiognomy significantly and degraded its architectural value.
What I can't see
It is a rare case of a cinema designed by an architect. It was designed by Emmanuel Lazaridis, graduate of the French Ecole des Beaux Arts. Until the end of the 19th century, the People’s Theatre of Fareas was located here, which was later renovated and turned into a movie theatre, called “Eden”.
