What I can see

Small neoclassical church, designed by Ernest Ziller. It was part of the villa of Nikolaos Thon, which has not survived. Nicholas Thon was a financial adviser to King George I.

What I can't see

The church, where the king often attended mass, had luxurious utensils, icons, and stained glass from Russia. The bell was made in 1898 at the Hellenic Gunpowder Factory. The villa consisted of a two-storey building, ancillary buildings, a fountain, lampposts, decorative sculptures and busts of heroes of the Greek Revolution. Before its destruction, it was used in various ways, such as a prison, hospital and school. Ion Dragoumis was also abused here and a few hours later was murdered on Vasilissis Sofias Street, at the place where his monument is located today. In December 1944, during the Greek Civil War, the mansion was blown up, and in 1946 what was left was demolished.
