What I can see
Next to the Old Slaughterhouses, is the building of the WWI allies’ military refrigerators. The Entente soldiers of the Macedonian front were supplied with meat from here. The decorative elements of the building are highlighted even though they have been destroyed to great extent.
What I can't see
The cooling facilities were bought by Epaminondas Charilaos, a pioneer of the industry during the interwar period. His construction company built the Harilaou refugee settlement, which today is a populous and prosperous district of the city. The operation of the building as a refrigerator and ice factory lasted until 1986. It then housed a French car company dealership. Today, it remains empty and unused.
