What I can see
Today we see the reconstructed version of the building. The Ottoman inscription is preserved in one of the entrances and says “Ismael Pasha Inn, 1323” (1905 according to the Gregorian calendar). It is from the time when the building was an inn and only had ground floor. After about 20 years, it was converted into the house of Khaim Cohen (designed by Leonardo Gennari) and took its current form. It is a building of European eclecticism, it is symmetrical, has floral decorations, skylights above the entrances and a pediment on one of them and baroque decoration on the lintels and the floor.
What I can't see
Inns were small hotels in which travelers could also accommodate their animals, thus they also had suitable spaces, such as storerooms and animal shelters.
