What I can see

This three-storey building with a semi-basement is architecturally governed by the principles of neoclassicism. The number of openings is impressive. The decorations of the openings of the first floor are different and less modest than those of the other floors. Equally interesting are the polygonal corner with the semi-circular balconies on the floors and the monumental-style entrance on Ioustinianou Street, which is emphasized accordingly on the floors as well. Despite regular maintenance, the building is in a constant state of decline. It is the seat of fans of a well-known local sports team, while it used to be its fans’ association.

What I can't see

It is the house where the poet Manolis Anagnostakis (1925-2005) lived until he was 17 years old. He was a doctor and one of the most influential poets of modern Greece. His works have been translated into English, French, German and Italian, while several of his poems have been set to music by leading Greek composers, such as Mikis Theodorakis and Thanos Mikroutsikos. In 1997, he was declared an honorary doctor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and in 2002, he received the Grand Prize for Literature. Anagnostakis was an active member of the resistance during World War II, he was sentenced to death during the civil war, but then (1951) he was given a general amnesty. Equally important was his anti-dictatorial activity during the military dictatorship (1967- 1974).
